Introducing the Jacquette

Birth of the Jacquette
Some of the most enduring designs are born not in an atelier, but from an act of love.
The Jacquette began with my mother.
Jacquette with an Anchor on ther Pocket
She adored the effortless elegance of classic men’s button-down shirts—the crisp cotton, the lived-in softness, the quiet confidence they carried. Yet on her petite frame, they always felt oversized,
even when she tied it at her waist still with too much fabric overwhelming her silhouette.
Sensing her frustation, one afternoon I imagined another possibility.

I cropped the shirt, preserving its beautiful textile tailoring, and threaded a cord through the hem, creating a soft blouson shape that could be gathered at the waist. Instantly, the garment was transformed. It retained the relaxed spirit of a gentleman’s shirt while becoming unmistakably feminine—lighter, more graceful, and perfectly proportioned.
That single gesture became the birth of the Jacquette.
Inspired by the timeless utility of vintage French military uniforms, each Jacquette is crafted from carefully selected men’s shirting that has lived a previous life. Choosing only 100% natural fibers, every faded stripe, softened cotton, and perfectly worn collar speaks to the passage of time and the beauty of preservation.
Rather than creating something new, we choose to honor our intuitive compass with what already exists and use that as our creative spark.
Each shirt is thoughtfully reimagined, cropped to flatter the feminine silhouette and finished with our signature corded waist, allowing the wearer to shape the garment with effortless ease. The result is a piece that moves between structure and softness, discipline and romance—echoing the understated elegance of French dressing.
No two Jacquettes are ever alike. Each one carries its own history, its own subtle imperfections, and its own textile story, making every garment as individual as the woman who wears it.
At House of Cindy, we believe luxury is not defined by excess, but by intention. It is found in craftsmanship over consumption, in heirlooms over trends, and in the quiet poetry of giving beautiful materials a second life.

Ever since my grandmother taught me how to sew during my childhood summers, I dreamed of designing a fashion collection.

For many years i ignored this longing and designed other objects. I feel our longings and desires birth themselves and eventually demand to be expressed.

As I grew older I discovered Coco Chanel and the world of French Fashion and how beauty and elegance are transformed by simplicity. This expression of beauty still inspires me and informs my design sensibilities today.

I believe true beauty comes from the soul of an object. This intention creates a force field for the wearer to experience the emotions of beauty.

The Jacquette is more than a shirt.
It is a ode to my mother and her timeless style.
A tribute to timeless French savior faire.
A celebration of reinvention.
And an invitation to reimagine and wear history beautifully.
